Science cinema for school children

Science meets film: Science fiction or science fact?

They combine science with imagination and thus design what could be the world of tomorrow: Science fiction films show us what might be possible in the future of science. Especially today, with one scientific development hot on the heels of the next, the line between reality and (still) fictitious visions of the future quickly becomes blurred. We, the spectators, are often left with many questions.

Long Night of the Sciences will speed up your search for answers. In preparation for the smartest night of the year, Yorck-Kinogruppe in cooperation with LNDW e.V. is showing science fiction films with scientific references for school children. On three mornings in the run-up to Long Night of the Sciences, you will have the opportunity to experience and discuss the science fiction films together with invited scientists, and to learn from them which vision of the future could perhaps soon become reality, and which will probably remain fiction forever.

In Spike Jonze's Oscar-winning film ‘Her’, letter writer Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) falls in love with the female voice of his operating system, 'embodied' by Scarlett Johansson.
