Capturing biology on canvas

Biological processes in human, animal, and plant organisms can border on the miraculous to lay people. But in the world of science, they are also considered works of art. For Lea Bendzko, a biology lab technician trainee at the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin, nothing could be more natural than bringing science and art together. She combines her passion for biology and art. The result is organ paintings in acrylic on canvas – so far only two-dimensional and not suitable for transplantation.
