Brake Research: Scaling Friction Value Measurements
In a basic research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG project ME 2046/8-1), we are investigating how laboratory measurements on partial brake pads can be transferred to real brake systems in full size. This can contribute to reducing development costs in future and also create a better understanding of the processes in the boundary layer between the friction lining and the brake disc. Here, you can see our experiments on a small laboratory brake and a truck brake on a large flywheel mass test rig. Suitable for ages 12 and up.
