Some of the most essential cellular processes, including gene transcription, occur through a mechanism that resembles the formation of oil droplets in a mixture of oil and water. This mechanism allows cells to spontaneously concentrate factors necessary for a specific biological function. You will learn about how altered biophysical properties of transcriptional condensates can be the cause of many human diseases and how changing these properties may be a strategy to influence cellular processes, followed by a live demonstration at the microscope.
