In search of temperature sensors in plants

Plants cannot run away and are constantly exposed to wind and weather. They have therefore developed strategies to adapt to stress factors, such as heat or cold.
The Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) is researching the molecular mechanisms for temperature perception in plants and how these signals are integrated into plant growth. This knowledge contributes to the breeding of climate-resistant crops.
Here we give an insight into the tricks researchers use in their search for temperature sensors and how they put the molecular pieces of the puzzle together.
