Investigation of the hidden corridor in the Cheops Pyramid in Egypt
The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, is the only remaining structure of the Wonders of the Ancient World. Despite its long existence, only recently has modern science and technology been employed to study this massive stone structure. Measurements throughout the ScanPyramids project, teams from Cairo University (Egypt) and the Technical University of Munich (Germany) have carried out measurement campaigns and confirmed the presence of the hidden Corridor (secret room) using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, which allows to look inside the object, look through the walls and not damage it.

Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung e.V. (DGZfP) ist ein technisch-wissenschaftlicher Verein. Die zentrale Aufgabe ist die Entwicklung, Anwendung und Verbreitung der Zerstörungsfreien Prüfverfahren. Zu den ZfP-Verfahren gehören Röntgen- und Ultraschallprüfungen, die aus der Medizin bekannt sind. Dass diese Methoden auch zur Prüfung von Bauteilen und Materialien genutzt werden, ist nahezu unbekannt.
