In the burning bush. Live call with researchers in Australia
Fires repeatedly cause devastating destruction in Australia. The Bushfire Research Centre of Excellence at the Australian National University – HU’s partner university – is conducting intensive research into methods for the early detection and control of bushfires. Marta Yebra, Director of the Centre, reports live from Australia on how images from space are used for this purpose. Participants can talk to her in the “Call a Scientist” station. Environmental sociologist Marvin Heine gives a short introductory talk on how fires move people emotionally. The event will be held partly in English.
